Patrick Henry Resources for Teachers
Patrick Henry Legacy Field Trips
One of the most meaningful ways to learn about the rich
legacy of Patrick Henry is to walk in his very footsteps. Fortunately, many of the places where Henry lived,
worked, and made history have survived the ravages of war, fire, and time and
have been lovingly restored. The Patrick
Henry Legacy Program is proud to offer financial support to student groups who
wish to visit one or more of these Patrick Henry historical sites.
If you are a teacher, school or county administrator,
homeschooler, or a member of an educational association and you are interested
in applying for a Patrick Henry Legacy Field Trip grant, please contact
Samantha Hagan, Director of the Patrick Henry Legacy Program at Samanthaphc@aol.com or 703-691-2301.
Liberty
or Death – A Documentary
As we aim to educate as many people as possible about the
life and legacy of our favorite Founding Father, Patrick Henry, the Legacy
program recognizes that teachers are one of the greatest assets to our children
and the future of our nation.
Recently, the Legacy program was able to assist in
funding the production of a wonderful documentary about Patrick Henry and
his influence on the course of the American Revolution. Filmed on
location at
St. John's Church
in
Richmond, VA
- the site of the Second Virginia Convention -
Liberty
or Death tells
the story of Patrick Henry, the Virginia Colony, and the great debate
about whether colonists should take up arms against British tyranny.
The hour long program, which has recently aired on public
television stations around the country, culminates in a rousing re-enactment of
Henry's moving "Give me Liberty or give me death" speech.
Through the generosity of our donors, we are now able to
offer DVD copies of the documentary to educators -absolutely free of
charge or obligation. |
